The original pastel painting was commissioned and donated to the Rochedale Lions Club of Brisbane who do great work for both the Australian and International community.
Lions are one of the primary predators of the Africa. They are also social orientated wild cat species living in large groups called prides. The prides usually consist of about 15 lions made up mainly of females, their cubs and 1-3 males. Lion numbers have more than halved since the 1950's and now only about 21,000 are left. Strangely enough it may be tourism that helps save the lion as they have become more economically viable alive than dead.
