The Tasmanian Devil was once found throughout mainland Australia but died out many centuries ago and are now only found in Tasmania. They were originall given the name “Devils” by early settlers due to their spine chilling screeches that they emit at night whilst feeding. The current devil population is being decimated due to a very virulent facial cancer disease and they have only just recently been reclassified as an “Endangered” species.
