The Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo is a tree dwelling marsupial that inhabits the rainforests of New Guinea. They are mainly a brown coppery colour with yellowish limbs. They feed at night on fruits and leaves, sleeping during the day in the safety of the high trees. They have adapted extremely well to life in the trees, having strong forearms and curved claws. All species of tree kangaroo’s are declining in numbers due to habitat loss and hunting. The photograph used for this painting was taken at the Melbourne Zoo in Victoria.
