This charcoal image depicts an Australian Lighthorseman during World War 1. These men were mainly utilised during that conflict as mounted infantry and fought with great courage in many of the battles of that War including Gallipoli. The man is armed with a .303 Lee Enfield Rifle and has a slouch hat with an emu feather attached that was utilised by members of the Light horse.
